St Pancras’Cryp Gallery

Objects are important to me.
Silhouettes are objects.
Shadows are attachments for

the objects.
Shadows Indexing nature is to

signify what they represent.

All exhibitions within the space of the Crypt Gallery will become a part of the space and the artwork's concept will blend with the internal atmosphere. Having this in mind, the space, the walls, the air have all played a part in the final output.

This was a collaborative effort and as such was full of challenges and opportunities to learn and grow as a practising artist. Although the gallery is very spacious, it proved to be a challenge for 38 art works, mostly installations, each demanding personal and secluded space. This experience is an invaluable lesson to learn from curatorial  perspective: Today,  when most of the art work is taking place  outside of conventional forms, more space is required, so planning in advance becomes crucial.

Working with a big group of artists was never going to be easy and for my projects, this experience was a big learning curve:  Previously, a big part of my methodology incorporated decisions taken  at the point of installation.

I learned that although, unexpected, unplanned surprises are valuable additions. However, the entire process is too stressful and for that reason counterproductive.

As a result, I now do all my experiments well in advance, and make sure that after developing my  work, I have enough time to go back and plan logistics.
