Concept
Our proposal is an abstract installation, inspired by two intertwining helical strands of DNA which links our past with the present and informs our future. DNA is common to all of us and in that sense makes us part of one community. This aspiration is shared concept by Nelson medical centre. In the harmony with the commitment to keep and preserve parts from the old buildings and protect conservation areas, the green flash of colour refers to the environment and its precious connection to our future.
Form and material
The installation will entirely claim the space, however it will allow lots of light through. For installation, It will make use of the four hooks already in the space and require no further structural changes to the window area. Despite its size, we have come up with a solution that is durable and light weighing 60kg. The highly reflective mirror polished aluminium will have a profile of 3cm x 1cm. The intertwining green strip will be powder coated aluminium with a profile of 5cm x 1cm. Both finishes are easy to upkeep, requiring minimal maintenance and no further specialist products. It will come in 15 pieces that can be easily transported and put together in the space. The parts are held together by sleeves and unobtrusive bolts which eliminates the need for costly welding on site.

Mirror Polished
Finish The mirror polished finish is integral part to the aesthetic of the piece. The polishing process is done at the fabrication stage. The bright reflective surface can be maintained with shelf products from time to time, without any special instructions.
Cost
Our proposal has developed through careful consideration of all aspects of the brief but also structural and budgeting feasibility. The aim is to achieve high quality product that will represent a good value for the money. We conducted extensive research into materials, fabrication and installation with broad multidisciplinary advices from artists, technicians, engineer, blacksmiths and fabricators. Our expectation at this stage is estimated figure of under £ 10000.00. Further work and negotiations are needed to organise and bring this estimate within the budget.
